I think the cost of NOT having one is more than it was before. The value of one as before? I really don't know, but I think some college or trade school or some sort of education beyond high school is really necessary in this day and age.

My younger sister never attended a single day of college or trade school and she is a multi-millionaire. BTW, like me, she never inherited a single penny. Ya, ya. I already know what your response is going to me. It is impossible for anyone to do that today.
