I think the cost of NOT having one is more than it was before. The value of one as before? I really don't know, but I think some college or trade school or some sort of education beyond high school is really necessary in this day and age.>
>My younger sister never attended a single day of college or trade school and she is a multi-millionaire. BTW, like me, she never inherited a single penny. Ya, ya. I already know what your response is going to me. It is impossible for anyone to do that today.
Your sister's story is not as unusual as most people would think.
While in college I caddied at a golf course on Long Island that had some very wealthy members.
Besides the inheritors (they were the wealthiest- being born rich is still the shortest path to wealth) there were lots of lawyers, accountants, MD's, etc who were very comfortable, but their wealth paled in comparison to that of the entrepreneurs, many of whom had little or no formal education, but were comfortable in what seemed to be high-risk situation.
Here in Hamilton, we had a good example.
One of our wealthiest residents is the owner of several large restaurant franchises in this area TGI Friday, Applebee's, Bonefish, etc. who started out as a dishwasher in one of them.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
