The notion that higher energy cost is bad and vice versa is dubious and often downright wrong.
Stability of supply and price is an important, if not the most important factor.
Wide temporary swings in supply and prices, up or down, can create havoc.
Whole communities that had been built based on low gasoline prices became wastelands when gasoline prices spiked and rendered commutes too expensive.
I was working in the transportation industry during the 1970's when oil prices doubled when supplies were choked off. There was economic chaos.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
