>Just for accuracy: I've yet to see anybody deny that Carson is a highly impressive individual- but the fact is that the taxpayer funded his early education which is a tick for taxpayer funded assistance to poor communities. If you insist on converting that to other ideologies or think that's what the Borg did, that is your problem. Get over it.

John, again, the "taxpayer/welfare" model is mandatory, i.e., implemented by force. Given that the "war on poverty" has failed so badly, it's far worse than anecdotal to attribute Carson's success. There's only one true fact here - in 1967, about 27% of Americans lived in poverty. After 21.5 trillion dollars spent, in 2012 about 29% of Americans lived in poverty. Did the programs help some individuals? Of course. But generally speaking, the implementation of measures over decades created perverse disincentives and failed miserably.

You seem to be all worked up about the "Borg" reference. I can't speak for what another person says, but I'm guessing that was a symbolic reference.

But fortunately, I do have a remedy. It's a new American medicine. It helps me when I get worked up and it might help in this case. :)
