I agree with that too. Any law-abiding citizen who wants one should be allowed to have one. I also think they should be required to take some sort of class on how to use it and store it properly too. But...at the same time...I don't think that citizens need to own automatic guns or ones that hold a zillion rounds of ammo.

That is actually my biggest gripe. I really really want such a database. All guns should AND their ballistics should be in a database. But yes there is a huge trust issue with the government having that data. Personally I think it's the lesser or two evils.
