The democrats wanted Ike to run on their ticket and he chose the repubs.

Ike couldn't win a republican primary for dogcatcher today.

- He ended the Korean war with a "peace agreement" that was largely criticized by members of both parties at the time.
His explanation was simple- "A flawed peace is better than war."
History has clearly proven him correct.
It's still a flawed truce, but it has lasted since 1953, South Korea has flourished and no US GI's have died here since the truce.
Hmm how do you think that would play today with Ted Cruz and company?

-Before JFK and JBJ ever did anything, Ike sent federal troops into Little Rock to enforce desegregation of public schools.
Can you imagine a repub doing something like that today?

-Ike condemned the invasion of Egypt by Israel,the UK and France and forced them to withdraw.

Yes, there were lots of people who wanted him to do more, but Ike was a forward looking progressive and he was passionately anti-war.

His party has gone off into crazy land. He wouldn't recognize it.
