First of all, make sure you've set the monitor positions properly e.g.
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/14875/make-windows-position-your-dual-monitors-correctly. Win10 should look similar. With earlier versions the trick is to drag the primary and secondary monitors to the correct positions - left-right, up-down
If the positioning somehow gets messed up, one way to get the cursor back to the other monitor is to go off the screen in the "wrong" direction. For example, if you're stuck on the right monitor and can't get to the left one, move the cursor all the way to the *right* and then beyond, and chances are you'll see it appear on the left monitor. Then to get back to the right one, you have to go all the way to the left on the left one.
You may not need to do that if you right-click anywhere on either monitor and go into the screen setup as above.
