Indeed, I'd go one step further... I'd say that it is irresponsible to have any guns in the house for the vast majority of people. Even for the ones who think it is their right to own a gun. And given what we see in the media, it only reinforces my feeling about this.

You might argue that guns should be locked up out of reach by children, but that argument is laughable and you know it. If you lock up your guns, how then can you use it quickly when you need it? you ask the criminal to wait until you get your gun out of the locker? Ridiculous !! You'd better take a baseball bat available next to the door.

You cannot prevent mental health problems. You cannot even detect all mental health problems or predict them. You cannot predict accidents, predict that a toddler shoots another one. You cannot prevent bad guys to have guns as you won't know who is bad guy unless he/she is convicted. Many of the mass shootings where caused by people that have been law abiding citizens before they committed the crime.

What you can predict though is that if you if you have a global high gun availability without strict rules, it would lead to problems. the main mental problem is that people are not seeing this and hold onto this stupid guns because of their gun addiction.

Sorry to say so, but this is plain stupidity. For the very same reasons that handgranades are illegal to own, most guns should not be available for the masses. It has no valid application (except if you need one for your occupation, sport or rifles for hunting) rather than shooting other people.
