I don't buy that either - but maybe for different reasons. Thus far I think one of the major breakups of families is that we've manged to lock up a huge percentage of young black men since the beginning of the drug war in the 80's...the result is that now you have a HUGE part of an entire generation of black men incarcerated and their kids are growing up without a father. As for the future, I think families will still exist, but how they look will be completely different. In the 50's you rarely, if ever saw an Interracial marriage and now that is very common. I image gay marriages will me more common. His priest says families begotten after 2k will crumble - I do not think that is that case, but do think there will be a lot more types of families (that are just fine, good families) that the priest will not approve of though.

I myself do not have issue with people who want to be married. I just got back from KC where I went to my twin sister's wedding. For her and her husband it's great and obviously what they both wanted. For me it's an unnecessary symbol. I'm sure there are some tax benefits - but it defeats the purpose of a relationship when you change the dynamics of it for money. I'm not religious at all, so I feel no need to get validation from any priest or rabbi or anything like that. In my case I think I'm a better person for not being married. Lucky for me I have girlyfriend that is ok with not getting hitched.
