I never get that, but... on the list of about 40 things that I must remember to do every few years when I have to reinstall windows for this or that reason, disabling updates is about #1. Most of those updates are for windows explorer, internet explorer, Office stuff - which I never use anyway.

I don't see ads in Skype, but that's perhaps because I still have some money there, probably from six years ago, when I was regularly making phone calls from there to here. Even now I do make 4-5 calls from here to there, so the last payment (of about $20) is still not spent. And I had premium for a year when group video was not free.

Still, thanks for the tip. I've added it to hosts file, just to get rid of that bloody home page. I don't need it at all, and I sincerely hate them for shoving it in.
