>>Your 286 never had a "proper" Windows OS.
Basically this thread is about an impressive smartphone with proper Windows and I'm wondering why that wasn't done in the first place. Hence "proper" Windows. Why was a whole new OS needed? Especially when it flopped in the market and ceded the OS to Google. All the expensive malarkey getting apps to work on smartphones with Rube Goldberg combinations of strings and counterweights could have been shortcut by using the familiar prevalent OS on the MS phone.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
