>Garland's past record on 2nd amendment rights are troubling - and even more troubling is his record of backing the EPA. EPA has done the unthinkable - they've passed the IRS in terms of corruption.
>
>(Somewhat humorous that the political left is all up in arms about Garland's position on Gitmo detainees...probably the only thing I agree with Garland on)
>
>But even beyond that - Obama before picked both Kagan and Sotomayor over Garland.

>Now, Sotomayor is a highly intelligent and capable judge. I don't agree with some of her decisions, but she's proven herself more than worthy.
>
>However, Kagan has demonstrated the last few years that she's nearly incompetent. Her statements during oral arguments the last few years clearly show that she doesn't know the difference between a legal statute and a government regulation/mandate/order. She's an embarrassment to the court. And yet Obama picked Kagan over Garland?
>
>It is clear that Obama's pick was a throw-away pick - the Senate should just vote Garland down and let's start this over in January.

Up until Garland was nominated the republican's loved him, and frankly they could do a LOT WORSE than Garland. This is a guy who, up until now, is who the republican's wanted. But since it's Obama that did the nomination - oooh hellll no can't have that. If anything the pick was one that if he's not approved, then the result is the GOP will look like a bunch of jackasses. errrr...will continue to prove that they are bunch of jackasses. Here you've had guys like Orrin Hatch, Jeff Sessions, Chuck Grassley, etc etc etc that were all for the guy before. What Obama did by nominating him was a smart move I think. The guy is obviously qualified for the job and the GOP has a track record of supporting the guy. So by nominating this guy, if they don't at least TRY to decide, then the GOP is going to once again have their obstructionist stance exposed. Plus look at it this way - they want to wait for January - then what? Hillary could easily pick someone more liberal than Garland....and what if Trump wins? There is no way of knowing who that clown would pick - as far as I know the only thing Trump has ever said about nominating someone is that he'd be sure to get someone that was against abortion. Looks to me like the GOP is simply shooting themselves in the foot and Obama just handed them a bullet to do it with.
