>>All I mean is that there is no simple solution nor simple explanation.
Agreed.
Here's something I did find:
A February 2015 survey of Flemish temp agencies found that two-thirds of temp agencies heed clients’ wishes to refrain from hiring cleaning personnel of immigrant descent. It appears that the meaning of the word "immigrant" has changed as well since the Boat People came. Still reviewing. Also there's anecdote from France that even second and third generation French citizens root for Algerian or other foreign football teams. They're now labeled immigrants as well. IOW we need to be doubly careful with definitions.
>>And please don't call it socialist. This is insulting. It's social democratic.
Bill would have known I was not actually calling him a dirty Socialist. ;-) He is exasperated that people continue to throw out unfounded accusations about the current US government to support familiar prejudice. My observation was that wanting it to be true, often is confused with proving it to be true, with dissenters labeled commies, socialists or similar.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
