>>>>>>Do you know if there is VS 2013 Express for Console Applications? Because it looks like with the VS 2015 Community you have to install all components.
>>>>>>TIA

>>>>>Without looking - I doubt it. What's the problem with installing everything - no one forces you to use it :-}
>>>>
>>>>You are right. But I tried to install the entire VS 2015 Community two times yesterday and both times it failed (no clear explanation though). I will try to install it (VS 2015) on another Windows 7 Prof today to see if I am successful.
>>>>Also, another thing was confusing. One time I tried to select which Feature of the VS 2015 Community I want to install and I didn't even see the C# feature. Perhaps the C# is a must and one does not have a choice. Mainly I wanted to skip installing the C++ and F# tools/libraries because I only use C#.

>>>Couldn't see it explicitly mentioned anywhere but I'd be very surprised if it was not the case - don't think I've seen *any* version of VS that didn't support console apps......

>>Finally, after the second try, was able to install VS 2015 on the non-primary computer. What I did is selected the Custom setting and un-checked everything. And the Console Application is there. So I can start playing.

>Any idea that the problem was with the options that you removed from the install ?
>(Haven't used the CE because I've an MSDN sub)
I think the problem is with the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.1 Developer Pack. I found messages on-line that suggest that this Pack should be installed - separately - before installing VS 2015 Community. I will see if I can try the installation again on my "main" PC."
But honestly, I don't know. I always make a Restore Point before any MS product installations. So I did it yesterday. First I tried to install using the Default features (all). It failed. I then Restored to the Point before the install. Then I installed using Custom Features and unchecked them all. The installation took 2+ hours but it went through. I have not really tried to do any work in it (VS 2015) yet.
