If anyone else has been driven crazy lately by AVG popup advertising, and have noticed that there isn't a way to turn it off anymore - here's help.

Disable AVG (the default 10 minutes is fine)
In Windows Explorer navigate to Program Files (86) /AVG /AV
Delete these folders: Awacs, Banners, Tuneup
Restart AVG

I realize that they need to sell their product, but the popups are in the paid version, too. AVG has morphed into Adware.
