When have I ever forced anyone here to do anything. My point, Microsoft has spent millions of dollars on usability research so they must have some sense of what works and what doesn't. How much have you spent on usability research? Following a good set of guidelines makes things easier for the user as the application appears familiar from one application to the next. This makes the user more productive and saves your customers money
