Craig,

some feel forced by you insisting on it.

MS has possibly spend millions of dollars for marketing to be like the company with the rotten fruit, but usability. ROLF. The idiot who comes up with metro screen on a desc, single screend on a multi monitor, wasting space for something that looks like my mobile but 24 inches wide has wasted money. Simple look on different MS products, they are not consistent in itself. Try the OS where some settings are metro ugly, others are more or less like Win 7 while others are from the days of yore.

Also one have to make the interface different, at least slightly, to be not mixed up with MS. If MS in his wishdom has guide rules, what are the settings on the objects for, then?
And, imagine, a lot of people dislike to be familiar to MS. Also the huge majority dislikes MS ever changing guidelines, they simply like to have the interface like it is. It is much much more productive for anybody to keep it like it is. The coast to teach the people to use unintuitive, changing ribbon interface are much higher then the dimes MS has spend on the moron that comes up with it.
On MS one simply assumes some relative of William the 3th comes up with a new playground, something like MS Bob. And the so called research is a way to hide the expense.
The rest is spend on unproductive meetings. Allways remember, MS is the company that gives a bonus if one stand a single project from lauch to rollout. The company that more or less stop anything the fake the products around the newest hype they puke out.

Following MS guidelines will cost the user money again and again. For nothing.
There is good reason why all the major companies are on WIN 7, not even considering WIN8.x and are more or less on thinking about migrating to Linux instead of moving to the maleware called Win10 because ever changing stuff is not productive and now spying.

>When have I ever forced anyone here to do anything. My point, Microsoft has spent millions of dollars on usability research so they must have some sense of what works and what doesn't. How much have you spent on usability research? Following a good set of guidelines makes things easier for the user as the application appears familiar from one application to the next. This makes the user more productive and saves your customers money

>>Not even MS cares about MS guidelines. (Hint: Read the guidlines that where valid the last versions of VFP and compare VFP with them)
>>Also those are guidelines, nothing binding.

>>Please stop forcing us to care or respect them. It becomes boring.
