..and when you did that it was possible to do so. Pay is lower, expenses are higher, and the cost of education has skyrocketed since you did it...If you think it can be done today as the norm then you are sadly mistaken.>
>Lower than $1 per hour????? I don't think so. Of course, if you live in a very expensive place and want to go to an ivy league school, it probably is not possible to do so today. When I did it, I live in Akron, Ohio and went to state universities. Also, there are loads of community colleges where the tuition is even cheaper. As a matter of fact, I met a couple of bartenders in Akron and in Arkansas that were doing just that - working their way through school. So apparently it can still be done today if one has reasonable expectations about where to live and where to attend school....
Yes. It can be done.
My daughter-in-law is an example.
She's a PE- Professional Engineer- managing complex construction design projects in Pa and NJ.
Her parents were unable to help her in any way, so she hustled her way through Penn State as a waitress and bartender, shared a room with several other people in the same boat, drove a beat-up car with several hundred thousand miles on it and came out of college debt free with a degree in Structural Engineering.
She exceptional, though.
Besides all that she's charming, beautiful and is an outstanding mother.
Not many people around like her.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
