>>I think Samsung's profits have dropped too - and their flagship phones are probably big competition for the iPhones. But like you said - not much new to offer lately.

I recently switched from Nexus 5 to Galaxy 7 Edge. Apart from the really cool look, drivers for me included the always-on AMOLED and the water resistance. Geeks talk about processor speeds and cores but in reality most users are happy with "good enough" and are more interested in battery life.

If I had a Galaxy 6 would the new features be enough to upgrade? Maybe not.

In any case, maybe the days when people queued for hot new phones are gone like the queues for Windows 95. Good enough is good enough, especially as telephony providers begin visibly transferring handset costs back to the consumer.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
