Don't think this's a religious insult on your folk. Hit to face is forbidden in islam but unfortunately muslims love in boxing which more dangerious than american football. People don't care others when it's fun unfortunately...

In soccer yes, players sometimes hit ball with face, I remember I read an article about this says it would be reason small harms, but I don't see any football (soccer) player effected about brain problems. Main problem is hit head-to-head or hit the goal-bar (I don't know what is in english, we says in turkish like castle-bars) with accidentaly.
