This is something I've looked into quite a bit as it's happened to a friend of mine who had a cop take several thousand dollars from him because he assumed it was drug money. The problem here is the legal action required to get it back. There really isn't much you can do - and it's not like a typical court hearing. Look into it and you'll be shocked.
