>>> Fully discrediting both *might* have the long-term benefit of re-establishing some kind of bar for experience and integrity (even a minimal bar)

>The best politician is the person who wants it least. ;-) Should be a civic duty you grit your teeth and do for a term before vanishing never to return. Sort of like compulsory military service in Switzerland- not what you'd choose, but you have to so you might as well be the best soldier you can be until you can go back to your real life.

Maybe tomorrow I'll think about this again, but tonight I'm thinking about something else.

You probably heard the story about the two year old boy in Florida who was killed by an alligator attack while his family was vacationing in Disney. I've been to Disney before and I know exactly where the Grand Floridian hotel is. Their family lost their little boy because of a mistake (actually multiple mistakes). The parents (father) should have taken more caution to the "No Swimming" sign, and the people who made the sign should have given more thought to visually marking the sign to express why swimming shouldn't occur.

I also go ballistic when I hear stories about other adults who leave guns on nightstands, under beds - ending in some five year old playing with a gun he/she should never have known about.

Last week a friend of mine was in a serious car accident, where the other driver was drunk. (Fortunately, no one seriously injured).

In a free or even semi-free society, there has to be an understanding between citizens and leaders. Citizens watch over their end and leaders watch over their end. Yes, no one is perfect, but right now there are just tons of screw-ups. Tomorrow I'll be mad again about the two screw-ups we have running for president and what just happened in Orlando, but right now I'm just fed up with seeing careless/needless deaths because people aren't paying enough attention.
