You're asking me to validate/defend Trump. I won't. He's been a businessman of some type all his life. He has never really been into charity.
In my line of work, I've done plenty of things to help other people. I can name many people whom I've helped to find jobs, or to get better jobs. I also gained benefit in some manner from the process. There's nothing wrong with that.
Candidly, I'm always suspicious of scenarios where someone talks about giving without some benefit. There's a difference between benevolence and altruism - I'm a big advocate of the former....not so much of the latter.
