Which shop subject?

I taught Drafting, Wood Shop and Graphic Arts. When I was a student teacher, I taught metal shop too and that was a real adventure :) Back then they used to dump all the behavior problems into metal shop and I always looked pretty young for my age. I have a lot of my students asking me out to the prom!

It's not a surprise to anybody nowadays that some women can make great mechanics and some men can make great florists.
The old sexist model of women's work and men's work was kinda stupid to ignore talent and unfair to those whose talents were ignored.

Not surprised that we agree about that.

Nonetheless, the numbers of women interested in that sort of work are far fewer than the numbers of men.

Also agree with you. In a lot of ways, back then, being a woman interested in that field gave me a huge advantage. The was back when Title IX was first enacted so many businesses (both public and private) were anxious to show that they were compliant.

Quotas in the name of "diversity" make me gag.
Just as stupid as the old sexist racist model.

No argument from me...
