Well, I think it's fair to say that HRC could shed light on it.

I'll grant that Comey's behavior is odd. I'll also say it's not fair to the process for Comey to drop a bombshell like this without providing more details.

However, there is one fact that many of HRC's supporters are evading - this all happened because of HRC in the first place. The quote from Colin Powell says it all - "everything HRC touches, she kind of screws up with hubris"

I have a theory - and it's purely my opinion and purely speculation - that in the next five days you're going to see something major from WikiLeaks regarding HRC - one that will explain why Comey did what he did.
