Full ACK. While Java eco system is not only bigger, but the offerings are usually supported by larger groups: this gives you stability and safety from abandoned projects (at the cost of sometimes slower development). Java as a language has fallen behind C# rather sharp ;-)
Integrating dynamic languages like Python into a an app of mostly statically typed code felt to me cleaner in C#, but that might have been "tainted" by growing up in languages where a distinct linking step was done after compiling. Although the (very limited!) debugging experience I had in multi-language apps with both settings, the Java one was easier for me as everything was based on the java stack,

>>That's funny. Most people say C# reminds them of Java/ Java is the older of the two.

>>I have little experience with Java, but a friend of mine who has been a keynote speaker at both Java and .NET events and spent several years consulting with companies on interop between the two says he much prefers C#. It's easier and faster to get things done.

>>>What is your opinion about Java development? Let's say a complete business application, by creating a java base framework for the most important tools, similar as we used to do in VFP.

>>>I do not know much about Java, but at first sight it seems to provide sufficient functionality. it reminds me a lot about C#.
