All a matter of opinion and experience.
I wouldn't want to do Java myself - I enjoy C# a lot thank you very much - but I know many Java developer who feel the same way about Java. The Java eco-system is a lot richer than .NETs although that is slowly changing with the open sourcing of everything Microsoft.
