Nicholas, the Ds held everything in 2008, and shoved a horrible ACA law down the throats of the American people.

And then they lost the House in 2010, and then the Senate in 2014, and now the White House.

I have made the following point about a hundred times. In 2013 roughly a dozen D senators up for re-election went screaming to Obama on ACA - their concerns about it, and how much their constituency hated it. Obama doubled down in the 2014 mid-terms and told Americans that his policies were in the ballot. Well, the rest is history - the Republicans (figuratively) punched the Democrats in the mouth, winning control of the Senate, winning governor races, and winning in state legislatures. It was a political humiliation for the Ds.

From any context of U.S. government and even basic civics, it is incorrect to say, "the population majority are now effectively unrepresented". I will quote Barack Obama - "want to change things? Go win an election"
