>... cognac.
which should NOT be confused with konnyaku (a jelly made from starch of devils tongue plant - aka konjac) or konyaku (engagement/betrothal) in Japan.
cognac -- コニャック (katakana), こにゃっく (hiragana)
kon-nyaku -- こんにゃく (hiragana), コンニャク (katakana), 蒟蒻 or 菎蒻 (kanji)
kon-yaku -- こんやく (hiragana), コンヤク (katakana), 婚約 (kanji)
when written out it's usually not a problem, as cognac would be written in katakana, whereas konnyaku nor kon-yaku generally wouldn't (they be written in kanji or hiragana).
