>First of all, I do not trust any statistics released by the government. However, in one of the links that you posted it said this:

>Labor Force Participation Rate in the United States averaged 63 percent from 1950 until 2016, reaching an all time high of 67.30 percent in January of 2000 and a record low of 58.10 percent in December of 1954.

>Interesting. The all time high for the labor force participation rate was BEFORE Obama took office. Also, averages do not impress me much. The labor force participation rate now is the lowest that it has been since after world war II.

>33% of Americans out of workforce, highest rate since 1978. The number of Americans aged 16 and older not participating in the labor force hit 92,898,000 in February, tying December's record, according to data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

But we also have, I believe, the largest population of people older than conventional work age. I don't think these statistics account for retirement. To really compare, we'd need to do some adjusting for those who've retired by choice.
