Tamar, very few will deny that the U.S. Health care system needed changes. The flaw is in thinking that a monstrously ineffective system like ACA was needed.

But to answer your specific question on "what would have happened without the ACA?" - for starters, lower and lower middle class workers likely would not have lost net wages and lost opportunity to purchase the coverage they preferred the most.

Of course I could also say facetiously that you should hate ACA more than I should - it contributed to the Ds losing the House in 2010, the Senate in 2014, and the White House in 2016. Don't believe me? Ask the 13 Senate Dems who pleaded with the president to push back ACA prior to the 2014 mid-terms.
