>When writing a chapter, I need to add a reference that would be defined at the bottom of the page. So, once the reference is adding, such as (1), how would be the proper way to add this reference so it would be stuck to that very same page no matter how much I adjust the font formatting for the final version?
If I understand the requirement correctly, that's exactly what footnotes are for. Footnotes:
* Will print on the same page, if they fit; otherwise on the next page (i.e., if the referencing text is too far down).
* Will automatically renumber if you add or delete footnotes (by default - you can also use custom marks)
