>>So, the CA factoid, while interesting, is irrelevant.
>>She whacked him on the popular vote, period.

Actually the popular vote, while interesting, is irrelevant. The only valid statistic is the electoral college vote, period..

If people insist on granting relevance to irrelevant measures: seems to me that California getting to choose a president for the much more populous rest of the country, would be highly relevant.

Which also is why there are states and electorates for Congress rather than having California select a government for the rest of the more populous country as well.

>>However as I said to Tamar, we should be wondering why a candidate with the backing she had - from the establishment of both parties and virtually all of the media with virtually limitless funds beat this obnoxious, profane boor by only 2.8 million votes.

If the presidential vote were a national ballot, campaigning and voting would be very different. All this focus on national ballot is as if you ran a spelling bee and an unsuccessful competitor insists they deserve the win because they can juggle.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
