>>>"…the fact that Trump has received more negative coverage than his predecessor is hardly surprising. The early days of his presidency have been marked by far more missteps and miss-hits, often self-inflicted, than any presidency in memory, perhaps ever."
>>>and, also
>>>"Never in the nation’s history has the country had a president with so little fidelity to the facts, so little appreciation for the dignity of the presidential office, and so little understanding of the underpinnings of democracy. The media’s credibility today is at low ebb, but the Trump presidency is not the time for the press to pull back."

>Why absurd? An opinion maybe, and not unreasonable.

It's absurd because he can't possibly measure the level of appreciation every previous president.

It's like me saying that I appreciate my car more than the other hundreds of millions of Toyota owners.

Meaningless and absurd.

>>How did he measure, for example, Warren Harding's appreciation of the dignity of the office, or US Grant's?
>>Old Ulysses didn't spend many sober days there.
>>I wonder what lofty appreciation Clinton was showing while molesting interns in the Oval Office or renting out the Lincoln bedroom.

>Actually, a quote from Lincoln having said about Gen. US Grant "for if it (the whiskey) made fighting generals like Grant, I should like to get some of it for distribution.”

That's when Grant was a general. We're talking about presidents.

>Do you think that Trump's incessant baseless claims show appreciation for the dignity of the office? Shouldn't he join those you listed above?

How many people have been hurt by Trump's baseless claims?
For example what has Trump done that compares with Condoleezza Rice's (a VERY dignified woman) evocation of a mushroom cloud to justify the Iraqi slaughter.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
