>>What I know is that shortly after the Iran deal was negotiated, Obama visited Saudi Arabia, and that his efforts of reconciliation did not attempt to demonize one or the other.

Yes, and how was that speech received by his hosts compared to Trump's?

>>it would be a huge mistake to dismiss it completely and thus destroy that scale. What I'm surprised about is that Trump doesn't seem to care about that.

What I'm trying to convey, is that MSM partisanship (on which you've agreed) is corruption of the media status as the 4th pillar of democracy. It's a huge deal and Trump actually carries the moral high ground calling them out even if he has vested interest as the target.

>>What I'm saying is that If Iran is to be brought to the negotiating table or to join the dialog, demonizing it in that context may not help much...

I take your point. Iran has been fighting ISIL/ISIS in Syria since the start which isn't exactly compatible with causing terrorism. When you do ask "where's the beef" you're often treated to lots of historic antics right back to the 1979 embassy event and all the hostility back then. However, in recent history Iran is regularly linked to Hezbollah and Hamas and was accused by Bahrain in 2016 and India in 2012 of bomb-making mischief while an explosive plot with Iranian connections was foiled in Kenya. Slim pickings, but IMHO it's difficult for Iran to claim grievance while it maintains funding and direction of Hezbollah and Hamas.

> And returning right back to the start: did you manage to find a US MSM citation where Trump's statesmanship got coverage in the US- even where our mutual snip is reproduced to impress the citizenry. Unless you have more luck than me, it appears that a certain familiar narrative is being pursued instead.

Bravo! I have a lot of time for Fareed Zakaria who is one of the least partisan at CNN, but check out the body of his work (scroll down:) http://edition.cnn.com/shows/fareed-zakaria-gps
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
