The problems I'm having with VFP 6.0 are currently being addressed by Microsoft, but none of my problems caused the sequence of events you describe.
After talking with our hardware engineers, it sounds like you could have some hardware configuration problems or possibly OS configuration problems. Did you recently install any new hardware (i.e. a zip drive, cd rom...anything?) I've had this type of behavior after installing a zip drive incorrectly.
