Hi William,

"The client needs data security, encryption at rest and in transit.".

Your client "must" upgrade MS SQL to MS SQL 2016, because the version has Transparent encryption and other security features.

I'm new to SQL Server and I am first re-writing my app using views and then remote views to access SQL Server. Maybe someone with experience can give me a few pointers on the best way to implement this and any issues I may encounter. I think SQL Server can encrypt the data but is it decrypted automatically when queried? Is there a way the data in transit can be protected?
