>>>These small generators look nice. The price is very reasonable too. I wonder how easy or difficult would be to connect such a generator to a house electrical grid. Keeping in mind that in the USA the codes are very stringent, as far as how to connect fuel or electrical lines. But for sure better than $10K.

>>As they give you less than the maximum output of a middle sized solar roof it should be doable, but you best ask around at your place.
>>My guess is the 10K generator will kick in automatically and have enough safety margins to service medical gear in case of brownout - which balloons price, as some kind of insurance probably is included.
>>If you are AWOL, depend on UPS to safely power down your gear and insulation to keep foodstuff cool until you come home. Then fire up the generator manually.

For that UPS should be good enough to even not get up on the outage, although wiring probably will NOT be pretty if supporting Internet, computer AND big screen probably away from those. I bet on the wife acceptance factor ;-)

I am pretty certain that the UPS/Generator couple I described can be installed for not much above 1K$ if you ask around and get it in one step. Musks wall batteries will certainly make sense for Tesla batteries not holding full charge after a couple of years: they are good enough in the home where partially dead weight does not matter and solar is giving dayly free current. Overkill for your description ;-)
