I'd love to see a 350lb NFL lineman ride a triple crown winner, or see a 100 pound jockey tackle an NFL running back, but reality has a way of intruding.
All things being equal, the more diversity we have, the better I like it.
I think that Obama's election was an important milestone for the country and I'm glad that I campaigned for him, but it was also pretty obvious to me that he was a better choice- for many other reasons- in addition to the fact that he'd be the first black president- than his opponents.
Had his opponents seemed better qualified - that would have trumped (that word seems to have taken on new meanings of late outside bridge or whist) the diversity factor.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
