>>All things being equal, the more diversity we have, the better I like it.

Depends what "diverse" means. National stature depends on some common goals and a social compact. The systematic rudeness becoming popular in the US, often from people who proclaim their own virtuousness and inclusiveness as they seek to excommunicate those they consider insufficiently diverse, is highly damaging to morale IMHO as well as national stature viewed from within and without. Just as the way the boss treats women in the workplace is emulated by others, the way people in the US treat each other, and their POTUS, sets the standard for others interacting with you.

IMHO you've a big problem at the moment and the Russians must laugh that you can't blame reds under the bed for this one.

As for a black president: a wise man in Indiana told me Obama would win the Democratic nomination because if people have to choose between a black man and a woman, they'll choose the male. Meanwhile NZ has had female Prime Ministers and Chief Judges as well as a transgender MP and most recently a refugee taking her seat in Parliament. If there's any bias it may be in favor of females, as shown by the huge boost in Labour popularity after the smiling personable Jacinda Ardern became party leader. Any day now a coalition government will be announced and there's a good chance Jacinda will be Prime Minister with plenty of Maori and Polynesians in her cabinet. Don't worry, there's the usual rabble waiting to pounce on any suggestion of sexism or racism or anything else. It's hilarious to see the same people who scream about sexism and privilege in one breath, celebrating in the next that everybody is so impressed by Jacinda because she's a strong articulate woman.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
