GI's in Korea did the exact opposite.
There were 2 versions of the 30 Cal carbine.
The M1 was semi-automatic.
The M2 could be switched to either semi or fully auto. I had one of them.
Someone figured an easy way to file a pin on the M1 and make it fully auto.
That effectively ruined the weapon, though.
You really couldn't control that thing when it was on auto mode.
