It's pretty well choosen the way it is.

My program displays DATE(TIME), SET POINT etc. german or as thewre local machine is set. A import will run completely isolated - and there the format is well defined (try a csv withSET SYSFORMATS ON on a german machine) So a report might come formated completely different then the form. My customer are germans, they like there stuff in german formats. Report goes to customer - customer likes it different. So the data environment for the report goes with different SET DATE etc without interfering with anything else (It's very akward if the background forms change there style while printing.)
