It's been over a year and a half since I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
After massive lifestyle changes, my numbers have been in the high normal to low prediabetic range for a year now.
Initially was on a very high dosage of metformin (2000 mg a day), but now take just 500 mg a day. (And my doctor is thinking of taking me off it altogether)
Tonight we went out to a local family Italian restaurant. I had garlic bread, ziti, and my wife and I shared a hot fudge brownie sundae.
When we got home, we watched a movie.
I took my blood sugar 2 hours later. I would have been happy if it was 140 or below. It was 124 (took it on 2 different readers)
Just took it again (out of curiosity), and it was 117.
I don't eat like that every day (at least not anymore, which is how I got myself into trouble in the first place). I eat very very little sugar and I watch carbs. Even six months ago, after a meal like that and a 30 minute walk, my glucose would have been 140-150. Tonight I did zilch after a big meal (and it was a huge plate of ziti), and it only hit 124.
