Obama said it would need a magic wand. Trump and the GOP said that balancing tarriffs and tax reductions to match corporate tax abroad, would disincentivize offshoring of jobs. The deficit with China alone, is estimated to be worth several million US jobs.

I've agreed before that most manufacturing will be robotic in our lifetimes, but you want those robots to be US-based, which won't happen if all the manufacturing and rare earths etc has been flogged off to the Chinese to enrich the few.

Meantime millions of new job openings give those least equipped to respond to change- especially African American and Hispanic Blue Collar workers- an opportunity for meaningful contribution and pursuit of happiness. Yes, the next generation will be more ready for it.
