Between songs, he would tell the audience about things he and Art did when they were writing their songs. One thing he said was that the effort was mostly on music and, as far as lyrics, they would find word expression or line from poems or made up stuff, just so that rhythmically they would go with music. This is why, he said, the lyrics of their songs were not easily understood :).

At least they knew the words. There was a band here in the eighties who did pretty much the same and were never sure of which words exactly went into certain lines, so they'd fumble them differently each time. Even today, when the author of the most is dead, there's no fixed official version.
