I agree that the media more interested in consumer attention than informing consumers is a very large part of the problem.
But the rules forbidding US citizens to talk to foreign ministers when trying to get elected seem to me antiquated/unbalanced, if my interpretation (built mainly from the press again, IANAL) is correct.

Some of the things like Flynn saying things untrue about such meetings to the FBI I consider to be (newsworthy) personal stupidity.

IIRC Stormy had to reimburse Trump lawyer cost, as claim was frivolous. Over here looser has to pay winners lawyer cost (or the percentage of the claim won/lost) which IMO has more benefits than drawbacks than the US way of handling such cost. If Trump lawyer cost were split between Stormy AND HER attorney (perhaps after letting some air out of the bill) it might have been better to stop frivolous lawsuits.

On Kavanaugh judicial quality I have no opinion - he did not make a good impresson testifying, but bringing up such matters after umpty years should not matter IMO.
