>Hey, what are the chances any of them are going to be physicists, or even techies?

Wrong argument. In a couple of months they will take their first student loan. How are they to understand the rules if they haven't ever paid attention to the rules of the school network, which is a place they got to know quite well, while the banking is a rather uncharted territory for them.

>Remember, they've never known a world that didn't have the Web. They were 7 or 8 years old when Wireless-N was introduced. WiFi has been around all of their preteen and teen years, they don't think twice about it other than to complain when it's not available, fast, and free.

That's what I'm saying, they weren't taught to think. Take for granted and move on. Until it bites you.

>I don't know the T&Cs for the school's WiFi but a strong argument can be made that it should not be operational outside of school hours. Any decent lawyer could argue that the connections logged were the result of wrongful action (or inaction) and should not be admissable.

The lawyer for the other side may argue that the network was on for the convenience of the partakers in the prom night, so they could post their selfies.
