I always thought _TALLY was a cool name for a variable.
"Hey Mr. Tally Man, tally me bananas..."I came across a video a few years back about a wooden boat builder. At the end of the video when the boat is built and in use, he describes what it's like tonging for oysters. He says after the day's haul, you go to the tally board and weigh out your catch. Quite an interesting associated memory there when he called it the "tally board":
