On a hunch, I tried "de-constructing" the form by removing items in stages to try to narrow down -- finally got it to a point where I stopped getting the odd behavior (Form Designer thinks form has been changed).
Went the other way 'round and started re-creating parts of the form by starting with an empty form, then started adding the controls one-at-a-time. Was able to determine that the problem begins occurring once I add a spinner control on a page in a pageframe. Adding spinner directly onto the form doesn't cause this problem however.
Just did a quick check in VFP 9.0 -- the problem doesn't occur in that version.
