Your old towels are probably mostly cotton, whereas some apparently fancy newer ones have so much synthetic they just slide over you and don't really do much at all except clog your dryer.

Label claims 100% cotton - see image. But the label's the easiest thing to fake. The English looks OK but the French has a typo.
